AR Alert: Gegege no Kitaro 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 2
SPOILERS! for Gegege no Kitaro (2018) episodes 47-49.

As part of the first season finale, the villain Nanashi (Nameless) makes it appear that human girl Mana's mother is a hostile monster. Neko-Musume (cat girl) who is technically immortal but has the appearance and behavior of a early teenager, wounds Mana's mother severely.

In her grief and anger, Mana accidentally uses power forced on her by Nanashi to obliterate Neko-Musume. This leads into Nanashi's endgame of destroying both humans and yokai (monsters.)

In the final episode, Nanashi is defeated and things mostly return to normal. However, Mana's still feeling sorrow and guilt about killing her best friend.

Surprise! Off-camera, Kitaro traveled to the afterlife and talked King Enma into allowing Neko-Musume to return to the land of the living. However, either as a condition of the return or Neko-Musume's choice (we don't know yet), Neko-Musume now looks and acts like a pre-schooler.

The second season begins 4/7/2019, so we should get some answers quickly.

I especially liked it when Neko asked for a diaper change.

First episode of the new season clarifies that Neko-Musume has been depowered; once she regains her yokai energy, she'll return to her normal form and personality.

Neko-Musume's back to normal by the end of episode 51.

In episode 52, a twelve-year-old (approximately) girl finds herself in the Forest of the Kinoko. The Kinoko )"Wood Children" are childlike spirits that want to play with her. Currently disgruntled because Mom simultaneously treats her as a child but expects her to pitch in like a grownup, the girl stays in the forest.

But time passes more quickly in the Forest. By the time Kitaro finds her, the girl is in her mid-teens, with her shoes too small to wear and her clothes fitting much more tightly and skimpily. Also, she is beginning to act more mature, and realizes she's turning into her mother in her attitudes to dirt and laziness.

At the end, we see her outline change back from teen to tween.
